LinkedIn vs Zerply

LinkedIn dashboard

Yesterday I signed up at Zerply. It’s something similar to LinkedInin the sense that it’s another way of publishing your resume and connecting with professionals. Although slightly similar, Zerply has a very different feel compared to LinkedIn and the design of the user interface is just one of those. But even with just that difference in the look, it already gives off a better, clutter-free feel. It sort-of makes me think about my feelings when it comes to Google and Yahoo, where Yahoo overdoses its users with information they don’t always want or need. (more…)

Merry Christmas

a Filipino Parol pattern

A pattern I made for work. I’ve been doing much more web and app design and a lot of coding lately, it’s refreshing to do something different.

Behind the concept: I tried to think of what I could design that would look Filipino (no snow or santa or things too Western), simple but not overly simple, and can try to convey how “warm” Christmas in the Philippines is. This is the pattern that I ended up with, which I designed into 5 x 3″ greeting cards.

Google Chrome Renderers and Workers?

Chrome on Activity Monitor

Chrome is my favorite browser because it’s faster than Firefox but offers the same range of extensions. But while trying to figure out while I’m using so much RAM, I checked Activity Monitor and aside from around 150 MB real memory Chrome is eating up, there are Google Chrome Renderers and Workers running simultaneously when my browser is up.

I read online that each tab uses different resources. But I’m already using up almost 700 MB of memory just for Chrome. Almost as much as when Photoshop’s open.

I’m not sure…is this a good thing or a bad thing? I’m not thinking of switching to Firefox again, but I wonder if I have to upgrade my ram to 8 GB sometime. As soon as I get this month’s paycheck maybe?
